There are times I create logo designs that I love, but they don’t make the cut when it comes to the client’s approval.
While I could take it to heart **sob** – it’s all part of my tried and tested branding process.
A process involving the design of two concepts for my client’s consideration.
One will often go on to realise its full potential, while the other, sadly, gets left behind.
Each will be presented with its own mood board to illustrate the inspiration behind the concept, and to provide a broader context of how that design direction could work.
Alongside the mood board will be a colour palette that connects the emotion and feelings that the client wants to evoke (as set out in the briefing stage) to the proposed concept.
And then the fun part – I will create draft logos, presented in various ways to demonstrate the versatility of the design. In portrait, landscape and perhaps with and without tagline or an pictorial element.
Both concepts are presented to the client, and we talk them through. I provide details around the meaning and why I chose those concepts in response to their brief. Soon after that point, one of the concepts gets selected as the most aligned to the client and their business. Sometimes it can be a difficult decision (I’ve been asked by a client if they can use both), and other times the client knows straight away.
The winning concept is then fine-tuned and expanded upon until we have the perfect logo designs, brand colours and typography treatment for their unique business. Packaged up with a pretty bow in the form of a Brand Style Guide. To make the final designs practical for use, I can also provide email signatures, branded stationery designs, social media and presentation templates. As a graphic designer, nothing thrills me more than when a brand is rolled out consistently and with pride.
This particular logo suite below, includes a hand-drawn sketch of a woman’s hands in a sensual prayer-like pose. Paired with a crystal-shaped frame. Evoking a sense of spirituality and femininity.
Rather than let these beauties lay discarded on the proverbial cutting room floor, I’m sharing them so they have their time to shine.
And also, just maybe, find a loving home with a business that’s their perfect match!
